Plans and universes
What each plan lets you see, and what a universe is.
ByteTrend is free to read. A plan changes three things: how much of each asset family carries scores and stats, whether you see the full dashboards, and whether you can pull the data into your own tools through the API.
The plans
| Free | Signed up | Screens · $25 | Analyst (API + MCP) · $100 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stocks | Top 50 | Top 200 | All | All |
| ETFs | Top 10 | Top 100 | All | All |
| Digital assets | Top 10 | Top 100 | All | All |
| Futures | All | All | All | All |
| FX | All | All | All | All |
| Dashboards | Summary | Summary | Full | Full |
| API and MCP | — | — | — | Full access |
Prices are per month. Free needs no account at all; Signed up is a free account. The Screens plan is not a screen in the sense the rest of this site uses the word — a filtered shortlist you build yourself — it is the plan that lets you build one over every asset.
On the Stripe checkout page the two paid plans appear under their product names, ByteTrend Screens and ByteTrend Analyst (API + MCP). They are the same Screens and Analyst (API + MCP) plans described here. Subscribing, upgrading and cancelling are covered in Account and billing.
Below Screens, each dashboard shows its summary strip — the headline counts — with a subscribe panel in place of the boxes.
How “top 50” is decided
Stocks, ETFs and digital assets are cut by size; futures and FX are scored in full on every plan. Within each of the three families, the cut is the largest assets by market cap. It is refreshed once a month, automatically. An asset that drops out of a cut falls back to its listing details — ticker, name, currency and ISIN — from the next refresh; nothing is grandfathered, and one that climbs into a cut gains its scores the same way.
Assets outside your plan’s cut are still listed, with ticker, name, currency and ISIN, so you can see what is there. What they don’t carry is anything that moves with the market: no price, and nothing computed from it — no scores, regimes, deviations or volatility.
Universes
A universe is the set of assets a product runs on. ByteTrend runs on the ByteTrend universe — nearly every asset ByteTree tracks — and that is the dataset behind every list and group page on the site, on every plan. Six more belong to ByteTree’s other products and research portfolios. They are scored by exactly the same five rules, but they are those products’ datasets, not views you switch between inside ByteTrend; the way to read them is through the API.
| Universe | What it holds |
|---|---|
ByteTrend bytetrend | Nearly every asset ByteTree tracks — stocks, ETFs, digital assets, futures and FX. The universe ByteTrend runs on. |
BOLD bold | The assets behind BOLD, ByteTree’s bitcoin-and-gold strategy. |
Whisky whisky | The Whisky portfolio from The Multi-Asset Investor. |
Soda soda | The Soda portfolio from The Multi-Asset Investor. |
Quality quality | ByteTree’s Quality portfolio. |
Global Opportunities global-opportunities | ByteTree’s Global Opportunities portfolio (formerly Venture). |
ByteFolio bytefolio | ByteTree’s ByteFolio digital-asset portfolio. |
The name in code beneath each label is the one the API uses.
The portfolio universes are built from each portfolio’s history, so membership carries the dates an asset joined and left. Region, sector, country and industry are classified once, at the platform level, and read the same in every universe.
The Macro pages are built from a dataset of their own rather than a universe. They are open to everyone, but below Screens what you see is shaped by your plan: the CAPR Overview's map either shows counts without naming the stocks or leaves out the ones your plan doesn't score; Geography & Sectors and the Trends pages withhold groups with too few scored assets; and Winners and Losers count only the stocks your plan scores. Each page says so where it happens.
Analyst (API + MCP)
The $100 plan adds full access to the ByteTree API and its MCP server — the same data the site runs on, in your own tools. A key is not tied to a universe: it can read all seven, and prices, FX and rates come with no universe scoping at all. The Screens plan is the website only and carries no API access. After subscribing, open Account → API key and choose Reveal your API key — it is created and shown once, so store it somewhere safe. The reference for the data end lives at bytetree.io; this site stays on the research end.
