Account and billing
Signing in, subscribing, and managing your plan and API key.
Signing in
ByteTrend is free to read with no account. Sign up and Sign in sit at the right of the site header (on a phone, Sign up is in the menu). A free account moves you from the Free plan to Signed up, which scores more of each asset family — see Plans and universes.
Subscribing
The paid plans are Screens ($25 a month) and Analyst (API + MCP) ($100 a month). Both are monthly and can be cancelled at any time. Subscribe from the plan panels on the ByteTrend home page; the subscribe buttons elsewhere on the site lead there too.
- Signed out — you're asked to create an account (or sign in) first, then brought back to carry on where you were.
- Signed in — you go to Stripe's secure checkout page, where the plans appear as ByteTrend Screens and ByteTrend Analyst (API + MCP), and return to ByteTrend once paid.
Each account holds one subscription. If you already have one, the plan panels take you to your Billing page instead of a second checkout.
Your account
Once signed in, open Account, or click your avatar in the header and manage your account from there. Besides your profile and security settings, both have the two ByteTrend pages: Billing and API key.
Billing
The Billing page shows the plan you hold, its status and what happens next:
- Renews on a date — the subscription is active and will renew.
- Cancel subscription stops it renewing. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, and until then Resume subscription undoes the cancellation.
- A failed renewal shows as Payment due while the card is retried, and you keep access in the meantime. If every retry fails, the subscription is cancelled and access ends; subscribe again from the home page to restore it.
- A first payment still processing — the page says so. If it doesn't complete within 23 hours it lapses, and you can subscribe again.
Upgrading
A Screens subscriber can upgrade to Analyst (API + MCP) from the Billing page. The upgrade changes your existing subscription rather than adding a second one: the page shows the prorated amount due today before you confirm.
API key
With Analyst (API + MCP), open Account → API key and choose Reveal your API key. The key is shown once, so store it somewhere safe. If you lose it, Regenerate key issues a new one and revokes the old one — you're asked to confirm first. The Screens plan is the website only and carries no API access.
The API and MCP reference lives at bytetree.io.
